Blues and Neutrals Aren’t Going Anywhere

New Year, new trends. Or is it?

In the rug industry, blues and neutrals – especially grays – continue to be the stars.

Surya’s President Satya Tiwari, noted the company’s sales have increased recently, and neutrals were strong, as its easygoing shades and adaptation make it easy to decorate any room.

Other rug suppliers also had a positive note to this year’s market, with a few introductions – such as Jaipur’s embracing the Kate Spade New York collection, as well as textured rugs.
“Textures are doing really well. People want the high-lows or the distressing; a little more character,” Jaipur’s President Chaudhary said.

While neutrals ruled the year, buyers were also found to be looking at new sizes and a pop of color to complement the blues and grays – like orange, pink and yellow. Needless to say, these options were readily available and are certainly making waves in the contemporary rug world.

Nourison also had a great market, according to company principal Alex Peykar. “Market was very good. I would say it was excellent,” Peykar said. We were fortunate to have a good location before. This new showroom added to our ability to show product lines we couldn’t show before due to the space problem. Being able to show at least 60% of our total assortment was a great help versus previously only being able to show 30%.”
